Premier League: Manchester United cruise to 3-0 victory over struggling Everton – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Manchester United delivered a commanding performance on Sunday, securing a 3-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park. Alejandro Garnacho stole the show with a spectacular overhead kick in the third minute, setting the tone for a dominant display by the visitors.
The 19-year-old Argentine leapt acrobatically to connect with Diogo Dalot’s cross, beating goalkeeper Jordan Pickford with precision.Garnacho’s goal drew comparisons toWayne Rooney‘s iconic strike in the 2011 Manchester derby.
“Superb – something amazing, and I have no words to describe it. It is out of this world. Special from a special kid,” praised United captain Bruno Fernandes.

Marcus Rashford doubled United’s lead in the 56th minute, converting a penalty awarded after VAR ruled Anthony Martial was tripped by Ashley Young. Fernandes handed the ball to Rashford, who confidently found the net, providing a much-needed confidence boost for the forward.
“I was sure he could score that penalty, and Marcus did it perfectly,” added Fernandes.
Anthony Martial sealed the victory in the 75th minute, capitalising on Fernandes’s pass to delicately chip the ball over Pickford.
United, led by manager Erik ten Hag, climbed to sixth in the Premier League standings with 24 points after 13 games. In contrast, Everton, already reeling from a 10-point deduction for financial rule breaches, find themselves second-bottom with only four points.
Despite a decent first-half performance and a flurry of opportunities, Everton failed to capitalise. Manager Sean Dyche acknowledged the impact of the early goal but expressed satisfaction with his team’s overall effort.

“A lot of the performance was right. In the first half, (United) had a great finish; it changed the feel of the early part of the game. Then we got a grip on the game. We had chances but couldn’t take them,” commented Dyche.
The match took place amid a backdrop of Everton fans protesting their points deduction, with the stadium turning into a sea of pink. The supporters displayed signs reading “Corrupt” in protest, emphasising their dissatisfaction with the Premier League’s decision.
“Ten points taken away from anyone will change their season. Until the appeals process goes through, we have to play away from home and deal with the noise,” concluded Dyche.
