Atlee, who is basking on the super success of his film, ‘Jawan‘, recently revealed why Shah Rukh Khan agreed to shoot for ‘Zinda Banda‘ song in Chennai with a Tamil crew, even though the budget increased by Rs 10 crore.
In a recent interview with TV presenter Gopinath, the director reminisced about the occasion when he conveyed his wish to shoot the ‘Zinda Banda’ song in Chennai. He recalled how Khan wholeheartedly supported him, even though the decision raised the film’s budget by Rs. 10 crore, considering it a gesture of gratitude from the actor’s side.

The filmmaker said that they were shooting the film in Bombay. It was a huge jail set with a schedule of 45 days. It took about Rs 60 to Rs 65 crore for it. When SRK told Atlee they would shoot that in Bombay, he told him it would be very helpful for him, his unit, and his dancers if they shot it in Chennai.

Continuing to reflect on the incident, Atlee shared that SRK assured him he didn’t need to “convince” him, emphasizing that he had brought Atlee, a renowned director from the South, without any persuasion. Additionally, Atlee highlighted Khan’s unwavering support, noting that the actor suggested expressing gratitude to the audience through the project would be the most meaningful way to reciprocate their love.

Atlee recalled initially perceiving the superstar’s suggestion as a joke, considering the significant increase it would cause in the film’s budget. He further explained that this very reason contributed to ‘Jawan’ performing well in Tamil Nadu.
